Finally............Brennan was sick for the first time!

Brennan turned 8 months on Mon and he got a fever on Tue. We didn't know the reason and the doctor could not find anything wrong with him. Basically, she said Brennan's immune system is getting better and he starts to fight virus/disease. The fever should go away in couple days.

Brennan loves eating but he refused to eat his favorite Apricots with Mixed Fruit the first time on Tue. I knew something went wrong and then I checked his temperature. My goodness. It showed 102.3F. I gave him infant tylenol and it took him two days to recover.

We still don't know the reason why he was sick. Maybe his immune system won this time, who knows. Nevertheless, it is great to see he is happily eating again.

P.S.: I still haven't told his grandparents in HK yet. I decided not to tell them until later as they cannot do anything but worry. =)

Brennan loves his cup and I was glad he drank alot of water when he was sick. 

I used to nurse Brennan right the way when he cried at night. Later I learned that I was actually encouraging him to wake up more often.

After researching on internet and reading books about sleeping habits. I decided to stop nursing him at least till 5-6 am in the morning. The first night, Brennan cried 40 mins in my arms and then fell asleep. He woke up again 1 1/2 hours later. This time he cried for 15mins only. He learned quickly that no more milk at night. The next day he only woke up once and he stopped crying after I picked him up. Now, about a week later, he wake up once a while and he can put himself back to sleep most of the times.

I also learned that napping is really important for growth. Brennan is now taking two naps a day. Sometimes he can sleep for two hours. He is a happy baby when he is awake now.

Therefore, My friends. If your child, like Brennan, waking up many time during the night, maybe you can try to stop nursing/feeding them at night. Babies don't need to eat at night when they are about 6 months. Good luck!

For those who are not parents yet, hope you don't have this problem.

For those whose children already passed this phase without this problem, congratulations!

For those who faces the same problems, I will let you know when I resolve this problem.

Brennan has started to wake up every 1 1/2 or 2 hours at night for feeding this past week. He is not hungry most of the times and he just wants company. This has been one of the crazy times since he was born. I hope everything will be alright and I am trying to solve this problem. Wish me luck!

When we had our first snow storm in MD, we went out the house and took some pictures. My in laws thought we were crazy as we took Brennan outside. He got a little red nose but he enjoyed the time spending outside.
