2024-12 FF Winter Concerts

Cayleigh has been practicing very hard on her French horn this semester. At school, she is in the symphonic band

Liz Huffaker came to watch her school performance!

While she practices French horn at school for the symphonic band, she was also practicing for the Potomac Valley Youth Orchestra PVYO on Monday nights. Either mom or dad would drive her to Cabin John Elementary School so she can practice from 7-9pm, sacrificing much of her personal time.

The last three months going to Ms. Yeo's home Saturday mornings to be taught and improve her horn skills. Ms. Yeo was the one that encouraged her to try out for PVYO and also for state audition. After many practices, FF was placed principal French horn player for PVYO.

She even had a 30 second solo (see above) that she has been practicing many weeks. She was struggling and practiced even harder. The last couple days leading to performance, she was tearing in front of mom that she will mess up. So the Saturday before performance, she went to Ms. Yeo one more time and was given some pointers how to perform well.

With that extra practice and encouragement, she nailed the solo!! Mom and her were super happy!!

Ms. Yeo also encouraged FF to try out for state but unfortunately she didn't make the cut this year. But she was very courageous!

2024-11 Things missed in November

These are things that we missed in November or that the posts are too short so they are put together into one post.

11/07 FF was inducted into the school's music Tri-M society. It was a small ceremony but nonetheless, it was a good one for FF as she worked hard to earn it.

FF also part of the AOB leadership for Biotech group of students.

Here are some foods that FF has been making for herself after school when no one's home, since's mom's been working full time now.

FF tried on some Chinese traditional clothing that was given to us by some members and it seemed to fit her nicely. Hopefully she'll wear it for Chinese New Year :)

Some people have traditional canvas for their painting, FF has a unique eye and paints impressive patterns....on a sink!

During a stake youth activity, there was a pie activity. And somehow Da was 'captured'/'chosen' to be the one that the youth get to pie him in the face.
