Quick recap: WEEK 5

Word of the week: 響雷 (Thunder)

Good evening from HK!! The first full week on the mission has passed! It was actually a nicer week since some powerful thunderstorms took down the temperature.

I had my first zone pday (16 missionaries from 4 different districts meet together) and it took quite a while, so I have about ten minutes to write about some highlights this week!

Firstly, overall, the mission has gotten into full swing. No more paperwork or logistics, just pure work. And it's been pretty awesome. I have gotten to know so many people both in the mission field and local members, and there has been so much support and love from everyone.

Since I'm full Asian however, there is often the expectation of native Cantonese fluency which is quickly disappointed when I start speaking haha

Throughout the week, I think the hardest thing to get used to was the lack of a social environment, as our work is focused around working with one or two other people all day.

But the work has been good. In terms of the week, it has been very hard to try to get new people, but the people we already have have been strong and we have been able to have amazing lessons. The ward is amazing and I am so so grateful to have Tai Po as my first mission area.

I have seen how I can use my strengths to share the gospel, and look forward to more opportunities to share this week :)

Love you all, and thank you so much for your amazing support! And if you are a missionary add me to your email list!

Ether and Melanie Ling with their daughters Kaitlyn and Madelyn stopped by to visit us on their way to tour east coast. Though we met them in Brooklyn NY,  many years ago they moved to Californian and then settling in Utah. So now their daughters are older, they took them to tour NY, Diane Kwok, and DC area to visit their aunt and  to visit us as well.

They stayed for dinner. FF requested to play some board games, so we played Telestrations and Throw Throw Avocado! It became wild and crazy game!

We showed the the girls old photos when they were babies and all the new moms took photos at Diane Kwok's home.

The baby photos from May 2007

Then Madelyn went wild after seeing how Brennan lifted his shirt to show Kaitlyn.

After a break, we played  Throw Throw Avocado! It got really wild so we continued downstairs!
