2023-04-15 Troop 773 biking and camping

Troop 773 boys and girls had an awesome biking and camping event. One of the members offered their site for the kids to camp and then some were dropped off at Pennyfield stop along the C & O Canal towpath to bike 18 miles to the DC state line while the younger kids were dropped off about 10 miles to closer. Everyone arrived there in good time. It took about 2 hours to bike 18 miles to DC line. Then only one mom, Gavin, Clayton and Da decided to bike back to where they were dropped off for a biking total of 37 miles which only took 2 hrs and 20 mins to bike back.

The weather was supposed to rain but it turned out to be a perfect day of warmth, coolness, shade, and not a lot of people. The next day they kids biked another 10 miles.

They had a great time!

2023-04-09 Youth Easter Sunday performance

Our youth is incredible! When the church announced for all congregations to have "commemoration of the Atonement and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Sacrament meeting that day provides an opportunity to feature Christ-centered messages and sacred music" So Da extended the invitation to the branch choir and the youth. The youth embraced the invitation and Sister Liz Huffaker led many practices with them to beautifully performed "I know my Redeemer lives" for our Easter Sunday program. Clayton and Michelle played the violin, Chloe played the cello, Cayleigh played the French Horn. Originally it was only four of our youth musicians, then Vince and Benson (investigators) joined in. So Vincent also played cello with Chloe and Michelle brilliantly transposed the music for Vincent to join them playing the trombone.

Not only did they played music, they also read scriptures of Christ's lift, death, and resurrection. The congregation definitely felt the Spirit and know Christ has Risen!

2023-04-08 Richmond VA Temple open house

When Abbey heard about the Richmond VA Temple open house, she booked tickets for 6 car loads. She then reached out to the church members and invited them. It was only a 2.5 hours drive. Da also invited his high school friend, Shen Yu, since they live in Richmond to go to the open house as well.
