Last camping trip before school starts. We finished 3 park quest. We hiked part of Appalachian trail and found Rocky Run Shelter at South Mountain State Park. We learned about Civilian Conservation Corp and enjoyed the High Knob Overlook at Gambrill State Park and we learned about pollinators
The new rest shelter along the Appalachian Mountain Trail. It's really awesome and comes with a latrine less than 100 foot away
The kids wrote on the log. The log is used to trace hikers in case they are ever lost along the trail so they can be tracked down along the sections of the trail
The old rest shelter that was built in the 1940s
After the 2.4 mile hike, the kids were exhausted and so we went to the South Mountain Creamery. Clayton treated us ice cream after the long hike and the cashier informed us that we can feed the calves across the street in their barn.
Everyone enjoyed the time there. Kelsey answered lots of our questions.
We campted at Gambrill State Park. It was one of the nicest camp sites we camped, very little bugs and the weather was very nice, maybe because it's towards in the end of summer and it's much cooler.
The boys didn't know how to make a fire properly so Da taught them how to set it up and get the fire started right away. The boys help cut wood. As you can see, Clayton found a new and very useful too to keep the fire going!
Pork chops, corn, potatoes, and yam! It was a very awesome dinner!
We played card games early in the morning since it was nice and beautiful.
After camping, Brennan was very generous and treated everyone to Cafe Rio Mexican food; his favorite restaurant.
