Happy Chinese New Years! This holiday is much bigger in Hong Kong and the celebrations took from last Monday to today, and the celebrations/ festivities pretty much take over everything here in Hong Kong. Because of this, it has been so cool seeing so many families together out in public. Unfortunately, like I mentioned last week, many of the main celebrations happen in Shenzhen up north in Mainland China or more South by Hong Kong Island (central), so we weren't able to see as much festivities in the New Territories. Hopefully next year. Because of such, the streets were sooo empty and it was a slower week.
This week I had some special opportunities! Firstly, I was able to have dinner with my family here on New Years Eve, which is the only time in the year where we are really permitted to celebrate as a family! Since our missionary work requires a lot of focus and diligence, this is one of the instances where, because of the cultural significance, missionaries are able to gather with their families if nearby. It was a cool chance to briefly share what I am doing here in Hong Kong and show the significance this church has had in my life.
In addition, just yesterday, us four missionaries in the Yuen Long Ward were able to give a talk at church! Bishop knew many people were out for the holiday so we were given the privilege to share about our own experiences on the mission. I talked last and had just about 7-8 minutes to cover some of my most wanted points; Bishop wasn't sure how long the others would take so I had prepared a 20 minute talk just in case, which worked out perfectly. I also had the chance to perform "How Great Thou Art" on the violin as a intermediate Hymn!

This week I wanted to expound a little bit on this title, "How Great Thou Art." Some time this week I was listening to a talk from BYU Speeches by Francis S. Collins, titled "The Road To Wisdom: On Truth, Science, Faith and Trust" (linked down below). It was so good! In this talk it mentions scientific breakthroughs and complex biological discoveries that had been so beautifully organized that led Francis, a renowned physicist and determined aetheist, towards a conclusion that there is a God!
In Alma 30:44 it reads,
"But Alma said unto him: Thou hast had signs enough; will ye tempt your God? Will ye say, Show unto me a sign, when ye have the testimony of all these thy brethren, and also all the holy prophets? The scriptures are laid before thee, yea, and all things denote there is a God; yea, even the earth, and all things that are upon the face of it, yea, and its motion, yea, and also all the planets which move in their regular form do witness that there is a Supreme Creator."
I am so grateful for this opportunity to inspire others to think about this themselves, to discover for themselves if this Creator is a possibility! I know that we have a God, and that he is our divine Heavenly Father who has provided his beloved Son Jesus Christ!

This week was a slower week with less friends to report on, but I hope to tell more this next week! Chinese New Years is such a blessing to help others see the need of family and I am excited for the work!
