One of Da's long time best friends is buried at Arlington Cemetery at Washington DC. His name is James Brennan. He helped Da's family significantly when he lived in DC not too long after Da's family immigrated to the USA. Jimmy fought in World War II and is buried at the Coliseum in June of 2004 during the days of Brennan's birth; hence the origin of the name. Each year we pay a visit to honor this long time friend.
The weather was beautiful. This is Clayton's first time here.
After the visit, we went near by the Potomac River and had a picnic lunch. Across the river we can see the Washington Monument, Jefferson Memorial and many other distinctive DC landmarks. There was a bike path with many people jogging, running, and biking (something we will do later). We see people fishing along river. There were lots and lots of boats on the river.
great pictures!!
What a special thing for Brennan to know where his name comes from. That's a cool way to honor a friend! Fun picnic too! :)
That a neat story and legacy for Brennan to have and live by. Just last week, I drove by that river... er, sat in traffic next to that river. I must have just missed you guys!
Happy Birthday Brennan!
Happy Third Birthday Brennan!
