The Zhao Family

We crunched a lot into our Spring Break this year. First we went on a two day camping trip and then fly out to Utah early next morning. 

 For this year, we decided to fly to Utah to visit BYU. After much deliberation CC has decided to attend BYU in Fall of 2022. We were delighted with his decision and flew over there to visit the campus, find housing, tour the campus, catch up with friends and enjoy what we can do in Utah.

To start off with, we were really fortunate to fly in the day it snowed. Apparently the weather was warming up in Utah but the kids really wanted to know what it's like to see and feel the Utah snow...and viola! Their wish was granted. So flying in, we were able to see the incredible view of snow covered mountain tops but the roads were cleared for driving!

So we flew into Salt Lake airport. One of the first stops we went was to the Olympic Park shopping center in Salt Lake City where Abbey and Da donated a brick to help fun the 2000 SLC Olympics. It was just a few minutes from the airport. Below are some of the screen captures the video taken when the brick with our name was placed in the shopping center.

Prior to detartrating for SLC, Da did a little research and located the exact area where the brick was placed so when we arrived we were easily and quickly able to find it. Sadly, the shopping center became a ghost town as there was another shopping center that took over. Nonetheless, the kids were able to see the brick with our names on it. 

After landing and going to see the brick, the kids were starving so we went to feast upon Mexican food. We didn't know the portions were so huge that we each ordered a plate but it was waaaay too much food. So they were satisfied.

While the kids were asleep after a huge meal, the scenes driving to Provo BYU campus was just magnificent with the snow covered mountains. At BYU, we took the prospective student tour on a golf cart. Later we also got the Engineering Building tour and also roam around the campus on our own walking around to other buildings. Then Kevin Wu took us on the 'inside' grand tour to places of interest, his dorm, and best way to get around the campus and where to buy food and things. We also met up with former missionaries from our branch such as Elder Packer, Elder Yang, Elder Shih, and Elder Ng.

Of course we need to eat from the Creamery and local eats. Then we met up with our old NY friends the Lai family (Sunny, Daphnie, twins, Susan and Sabrina)
