It feels like we haven't gone caroling in a couple years and this year was a memorable one. This year we've been quite busy and we were finally able to go caroling on Christmas Eve, and we even recruited Max! We chose to sang to some older members of our branch, and it turned out to be a heartfelt experience for us and the kids. We sang one verse of Silent Night, one verse of Joy to the World, and finish with We Wish You a Merry Christmas.
Ironically we started our night and sang to a young man in his mid 20's who just came to the US not too long ago. His mom is in China while his dad actually just came home that day after being incarcerated for a few months. He and his dad experienced the love of Christ and he said his did almost cried.
Then we went to two older sisters home. They are both widows living by themselves. When we sang to them, they were so happy that they were dancing and clapping at the door.
We surprised visited a few more families and they thoroughly enjoyed our caroling too.
The next day was Christmas eve and first we went to see Chen mama at her home, our beloved oldest sister in our branch. We were there in the nick of time, as we were walking to her apartment building entrance, her daughter was taking her out for lunch. We asked if we can sing carols to her, so her daughter wheeled her back inside the lobby and we sang carols to her. She was sooo happy.
That night Abbey felt we should sing to a couple families in our neighborhood who may need some cheers due to events that happened to their lives this year.
First we stopped by a Hong Kong family in our neighborhood. They have been sick many many times this year and they were very happy to see us singing at their door step, and they were still sick.
Then we caroled at another neighbor who's mom passed away this year and she have covid and all by herself this Christmas. She said it's the best thing ever and made her day.
We finished off by going to a old widow's home who's husband passed away this year, our kids even did some yard work for them over the summer. She was very happy and said that this is the first time anyone has caroled to her.
I am so glad we went caroling and made these families' lives a little brighter this Christmas and our kids get to see how our little adventure of caroling makes a difference this holiday season.
