Brother Guillermo 'Memo" Azucena passed away on September 2, 2026.
On the afternoon of 9/2, Da received a text message from Betty, "I have to report to you that Memo died at home peaceful around 11:00 am". Da immediately called Betty to find more details. He then called Abbey and went to visit Betty after work. When we arrived, Gloria and family were already there while Betty was in the bedroom with Memo. After some time, Betty came out of the room and took us into the bedroom where Guillermo laid motionless. In the somber atmosphere, we cried, while Betty cried some more. Da gave a blessing in the room for Brother Guillermo. In the minutes and hour that followed, more family went into the room and later followed by paramedics to make record of the event.
Days following Bro Guillermo's passing, we worked with Gloria very closely to arrange for his memorial service and burial, including gathering photos, reserving church, setting zoom session for family out of town. His memorial service was on October 3rd at the Kentland's chapel and Da conducted the service. He then was buried on 10/10 at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring MD with only close family and us. Afterwards we went to East Pearl Restaurant in Rockville to have lunch.
