The Scouts had a backpacking trip. SS took the privilege of going shopping food for scout camp once more. This is he totally forgot about the special dry food items that he was supposed to order online days before, so instead mom drove to the REI store to purchase those items. Then he would individually pack each sack for the scouts he was responsible for.

Since it's a backpacking trip, they boys had to pack everything with them and hike at Duncan Knob. SS really enjoyed the trip, from the autumn scenery, climbing the rocks, and hand with other scouts. He also took many photos.

So apparently during the hiking trip he really impressed the adult chaperones for helping the younger scouts and taking nice photos. He received accolades in the following email:

Subject headline: Excellent leadership

Body of the email:

Hi Da and Abbey

I have helped Scoutmasters run a half a dozen backpacking trips for 773 and have to say this trip's scout leadership was some of the best I have seen in many years.

Clayton demonstrated excellent leadership on this weekend's backpacking trip.  He was always looking out for younger scouts and helping them with their packs.  A young scout was not feeling well late Saturday evening and Clayton was helping him immediately.  Also, Clayton's photos posted to Facebook were excellent and completely appreciated since my phone camera is broken.

Scouts like Clayton make the job of parent volunteers 100% easier.

Thank you

Glen Ireland
